Working With Your Hands

Working With Your Hands

Ore Projects delivers workshops in partnership with Henry Moore Studios & Gardens, located in the same village, Green Tye. A publication from this project now lives permanently in the Henry Moore Archive, reflecting the significance and impact of this work.

The partnership involves student groups taking part in joint education experiences. The day begins with a guided tour of Henry Moore Studios & Gardens, exploring the sculpture gardens and creative spaces, and gaining insight into Henry Moore’s artistic process and legacy. Following the tour, students spend an afternoon at Ore Projects, engaging in hands-on metalworking activities such as making models, experimenting with cold bending steel, and learning basic MIG welding techniques, exploring how sculptures are constructed using armatures.

This combined experience links art history with practical making, helping students connect creative thinking with real-world fabrication skills and deepening their understanding of how professional sculptural work is planned and realised. Each participant also takes home a copy of the publication, which includes tasters from the Creative Careers section of our website.

If you would like a copy, email ore.projects.uk@gmail.com
